Puppy Head Start and Board & Train Frequently Asked Questions
What type of dogs do you accept for the Puppy Head Start Program and the Board & Train Program?
We accept all breeds of dogs for our Puppy Head Start Program and Board & Train Program. We also accept unaltered (not spayed/neutered) dogs. Our Puppy Head Start program is designed for puppies between 8 and 24 weeks old and our Board & Train Program, is designed for dogs 24 weeks and older.
Does my dog need to be vaccinated before coming to RTK?
Yes, we require all dogs to be up to date on the following vaccines: Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella (Kennel Cough). All dog owners must provide recent documentation of vaccinations prior to their dog’s stay. If your puppy hasn’t completed all of their vaccinations before starting the Puppy Head Start Program, we’ll arrange the remaining vet appointments with our veterinarian. All vaccinations and health related expenses are the responsibility of the puppy owner.
What sets Riptide Thunder Kennels apart from other dog training facilities?
At Riptide Thunder Kennels, we tailor each training program to meet your unique goals for your dog. Every dog receives multiple personalized training sessions daily, along with ample outdoor time, play, and exercise. We understand how hard it can be to be away from your dog, which is why we keep you connected with regular photo and video updates throughout the week. While in our care, your dog is treated like family—enjoying top-quality training and attention in a safe, welcoming environment.
How long will my dog be at training?
Our Puppy Head Start Program requires a minimum commitment of four weeks. The training is fully customized to align with your specific goals for your puppy and can be extended beyond the initial four weeks as needed.
For our Board & Train Program, the duration varies based on your dog’s individual needs, progress, previous training and your desired outcomes. While there is no set minimum, most dogs typically stay with us for six to eight weeks.
What’s included in the training programs?
Both of our training programs includes boarding, recreation, food, and personalized obedience training. We also offer ongoing support and follow-up guidance after your dog goes home to reinforce success.
