Boarding Frequently Asked Questions

What type of dogs do you accept for boarding and training?

We accept all breeds of dogs for boarding. We also accept unaltered (not spayed/neutered) dogs.

Does my dog need to be vaccinated before coming to RTK?

Yes, we require all dogs to be up to date on the following vaccines: Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella (Kennel Cough). All dog owners must provide recent documentation of vaccinations prior to their dog’s stay.

What sets Riptide Thunder Kennels apart from other dog boarding facilities?

At Riptide Thunder Kennels, your dog receives personalized care and attention throughout their stay. We ensure they get plenty of outdoor time, play, and exercise every day. Our boarding experience includes enriching activities like nature walks, treat-filled Kongs, and both group and one-on-one play sessions based on your dog’s temperament. We understand how hard it can be to be away from your dog, which is why we keep you connected with regular photo and video updates throughout your dog’s stay. When your dog stays with us, they’re treated like part of the family—receiving the highest quality care in a safe, friendly environment.

What should I bring when dropping off my dog?

Please bring proof of up to date vaccinations, your dog’s food if you are not using our kennel’s food, and if applicable, clearly labeled medication. You can bring your dog’s leash, but this is not required.

Will my dog get playtime while staying at RTK?

Your dog will be able to enjoy supervised group playtime with compatible dogs, according to size and temperament in one of our secured, grassy outdoor areas. If your dog does not interact well with others, your dog will have individual one-on-one playtime.

Can my dog just board for the day?

Yes, we offer day boarding! It’s a great option for high-energy dogs who need a place to play and burn off some energy, dogs with separation anxiety, or those who require medication during the day while you're away. Day boarding is also ideal if you're expecting guests for the day or having work done at home and need a safe, comfortable place for your dog to stay.
