From Breakfast to Bedtime: A Day at Riptide Thunder Kennels

Leaving your dog at a boarding facility can feel a little stressful—but knowing what their day looks like can make all the difference. At Riptide Thunder Kennels, our boarding dogs enjoy a structured routine filled with exercise, outdoor time, enrichment, rest, meals, and plenty of attention.

While each day may vary based on the weather and your dog’s individual needs, we follow a consistent routine to help our guests feel comfortable, happy, and well cared for.

So, what does a typical day look like at Riptide Thunder Kennels? Let’s take a closer look at what your dog’s day looks like while they’re staying with us! 🐾

🌅 6:30–7:30 AM — Rise & Shine

The day starts with a morning wake-up and some time outside.

After a good night's rest, the dogs get the opportunity to stretch their legs, get some fresh air, and take care of their morning business. We like to start the day with a calm transition from nighttime rest into the day's activities.

For many dogs, this is when the excitement begins—they know it’s time to get up and get moving!

🍽️ 7:30–9:00 AM — Breakfast & Relaxation

Breakfast is served, followed by some time to relax and let everyone settle after their morning meal.

We follow each dog's feeding instructions provided by their family so that their normal routine can be maintained as closely as possible during their stay.

Keeping mealtimes consistent helps boarding dogs feel more comfortable and gives them a little piece of their normal routine while they're away from home.

🐾 9:00–10:30 AM — Morning Fun

Now it's time to have some fun!

Our mornings may include outdoor play, exercise, enrichment activities, and supervised interaction with other dogs, depending on each dog's temperament, energy level, and boarding plan.

Some dogs are ready to run and play the moment they get outside. Others prefer sniffing around, exploring, getting some one-on-one attention, or working on enrichment activities.

💤 10:30 AM–12:00 PM — Midmorning Break

Just like people, dogs need a break!

After a busy morning of play, exercise, and enrichment, our boarding dogs get some downtime to relax and recharge. They’ll have another opportunity to go outside, stretch their legs, and take care of business before settling in for some well-deserved rest.

For dogs who are scheduled to eat lunch, their midday meal is provided according to their normal feeding routine.

This quieter part of the day gives everyone a chance to rest, reset, and recharge before afternoon activities begin.

🐕 12:00–1:30 PM — Midday Play & Enrichment

Once everyone has had some time to rest, it's time to get back to having fun!

Afternoons may include more outdoor activities, playtime, enrichment, and supervised interaction.

We believe a happy boarding dog isn't necessarily one who spends every waking moment running around. It's about finding the right balance of activity and mental stimulation for each individual dog.

💤 1:30–3:30 PM — Rest & Recharge

After a busy morning and midday activities, it's time for a well-deserved break. Dogs settle in for some quiet time and rest so they can recharge before the afternoon activities begin.

Rest is an important part of a dog's day, especially when they're in a new environment and taking in lots of sights, sounds, smells, and experiences.

🎾 3:30–4:30 PM — Afternoon Play

Once everyone has had time to recharge, it's time to get back outside!

This may include playtime, exercise, exploring the yard, enrichment activities, or supervised interaction with other dogs.

💧 4:30–5:00 PM — Cool Down

After afternoon play, we give everyone some time to slow down and cool off before dinner.

This is a calmer part of the afternoon where dogs can relax, get ready for dinner time, and transition from playtime into their evening routine.

🍽️ 5:00–8:00 PM — Dinner & Evening Routine

Dinner is served according to each dog's normal feeding schedule. After dinner, dogs have opportunities for outside time, potty breaks, and some relaxed evening activities.

The evening routine is intentionally a little slower as we begin winding down from the day's activities.

🌙 8:00–9:30 PM — Wind Down

As the day comes to an end, it's time to settle in for the night.

Dogs get a final opportunity for some evening fresh air and a potty break before getting comfortable for bedtime. And, of course, no day at Riptide Thunder Kennels would be complete without a good-night treat! Each of our boarding guests gets a special bedtime treat before settling in for the night.

After a full day of exercise, enrichment, play, rest, plenty of attention, and a little bedtime snack, our boarding guests are ready to curl up, relax, and call it a night.

🐾 Where Boarding Feels Like a Vacation

Choosing the right place to board your dog is a big decision. At Riptide Thunder Kennels, we don't want your dog's boarding experience to feel like simply being dropped off somewhere—we want it to feel like their own little vacation!

Our goal is to provide a safe, structured, enriching, and enjoyable experience where your dog can feel comfortable, cared for, and right at home while you're away. From a structured daily routine and plenty of outdoor time to play, enrichment, rest, and individual attention, our boarding guests enjoy a full day of activities balanced with plenty of opportunities to relax.

Exercise. Enrichment. Rest. Repeat.

When you drop your dog off with us, you can enjoy your time away knowing they're spending their days having fun, getting plenty of attention, and being cared for like one of our own.
